About Me

My photo
My name is Melanie. I am a special needs teacher, a best friend, Jesus loving, southern girl. I have been threw many ups and downs. Throughout my journey I have learned that there is nothing God can't do. I'm learning to count my blessings and stay strong during every challenge and storm that comes my way. In the end; life's a dance, you learn as you go.

A Thankful Season

In this season of being thankful, I decided to reflect on the past year. One year ago I was surviving my first thanksgiving without my mom. Needless to say, I didn't feel very thankful. Actually I didn't have a clue what I was feeling. This year was my second thanksgiving without my mom. My brother and I ate at the Nifong's house. We had a wonderful meal and rode on the Kubota for a while. For dinner I ate with my aunt, uncle, cousins and grandma. My aunt's food is wonderful. I think she exchanged a lot of recipes with my mom. It's funny how certain things like food can trigger memories. One year ago, I wasn't sure who I was. This year I know that I am a strong independent woman. I never thought I would be 24 in my own house. However, I treasure the independence. I love waking up whenever I want, decorating however I want and the freedom to come and go as I please.  The Lord shows me everyday that I need to trust His plan, so far it seems to be working out great. :)
