About Me

My photo
My name is Melanie. I am a special needs teacher, a best friend, Jesus loving, southern girl. I have been threw many ups and downs. Throughout my journey I have learned that there is nothing God can't do. I'm learning to count my blessings and stay strong during every challenge and storm that comes my way. In the end; life's a dance, you learn as you go.

Giving Thanks

"Everything I once held dear, I count it all as lost. Lead me to the cross where your love poured out. Bring me to my knees, Lord I lay me down. Rid me of myself I belong to you. Oh, lead me....lead me to the cross!!"

This post has been inspired by my bad attitude. I know that sounds weird but tonight I found myself getting upset and being petty over things that I can not control. My brain was racked with negativity. It's not necessary to go into detail about the things that were plaguing my mind. However, midway threw my ranting and raving I made myself stop and give thanks for at least one thing that God has done for me. I decided that I should make a list right now of things that I am thankful for. Naturally, I will leave things off of the list because they have slipped the brain. I thought it would be a good way to take the negative energy away that I was holding on to. So here we go.....
I am thankful for:
1. Salvation.
2. Freedom.
3. Love.
4. Stephen.
5. Friends.
6. My best friend is pregnant---I'm going to be an aunt.
7. A teaching job.
8. A wonderful mentor.
9. Family.
10. Forgiveness.
11. Memories.
12. My loving mother.
13. My church/church family.
14. Jesus dying on the cross for me.
15. Comfort and peace.
16. A place to sleep and food.
17. Health.
18. Marriage.
19. Abby (my sweet puppy).
20. Second chances.

These are in no particular order. Sometimes it is nice to be reminded that life isn't so bad. There are things to be thankful for. I know that people (myself included) get caught up worrying about little things. No matter what happens on this Earth I need to remember that it isn't as bad as I think it is. I have a God who forgives and loves me. When I think I'm alone I need to call on Him and rejoice in the fact that I have salvation and will be in heaven. Until that day, I need to LIVE FOR HIM!
