"Take me, mold me, use me, fill me. I give my life to the Potter's hand. You call me, guide me, lead me, walk beside me. I give my life to the Potter's hand."
Tonight we had a bible study based on "The Potter's Hand". It was awesome. A guy from church actually used clay and made an extraordinary clay pot. He referenced how God is our Potter and we can either be a slab of clay in a box or we can let him use us, mold us, make us. But that's not the ending; God wants us to have that beautiful final gloss. We can always stop and be content as a plain clay pot that is unfinished. However, with one flick of a finger that unfinished pot can crumble. God wants us to strive to learn more and be molded into his perfect child. He wants us to continue in his word and actually reach towards that final gloss, so we can be stable and usable like a finished clay pot.
What a great reference. I've never really compared my life to a pot. It makes me wonder where the Lord views me. Am I the unfinished pot that can crumble with the flick of a finger? I hope not. But it is easy to fall into worldly temptations and stray from God's plan. I once heard in a church service that life was a mountain. Yes, we all know it has a valley and a climax that eventually reaches the top. But the best part about the mountain can be the valley. The valley is full of thick grass, water, nutrients, etc. It's a learning place, you learn to survive off of the valley by taking extra time to search and find answers. However, you drift from the valley and find yourself at the peak of the mountain. It's a wonderful place with a great view. Soon you realize that there mostly trees, a killer view but little nutrients and it is hard to survive. Therefore, you start making your way back towards the valley. You begin searching and looking for nutrients, new growth, more life. You can't always be at the top. Eventually you need to come back and search for new things. I'm starting to appreciate that about life. It's full of possibilities and the best part is I write my own story and make my own choices. I'm choosing to let my Potter mold me!
